GFZ German Earth Science Research Center has published a study on the influence of LED street lights on sky light and dark sky.

By analyzing data based on different operating intensities of the street lighting system, the team determined that only 20% of the light produced at night in Tucson was from street lights.

The research team said that illuminated signs and facades, bright shop windows, illuminated sports fields, and other sources are the culprits of light pollution.

The team also asserted that there is no evidence that reducing the lighting level to 30% will affect the safety of the city. The residents of this city don't seem to notice these changes.
